In short: The ILCA, formerly Laser, is the single-handed boat of the International Laser Class approved by World Sailing: 4.23 m long, 1.37 m wide and about 58 kg. There are three rigs: ILCA 4 (4.70 m²), ILCA 6 (5.76 m², women's Olympic) and ILCA 7 (7.06 m², men's Olympic).

The ILCA (International Laser Class Association) is the boat approved by World Sailing for all International Laser Class racing. Nothing has changed except the name. It is the world’s most popular dinghy, with over 225,000 boats.
